Time to hand out “Doc’s 3-D Award,” given to those bone-headed enough to earn “Doc’s Doctorate of Douchebaggery.” This week, it goes to a group of brainiacs in Cuba.

I spotted this story at our TV news partner’s website (WMBD-TV).  Turns out a group of 18 and 19-year-olds snuck back into Cuba High School and held a boozey – allegedly-  party in the school’s gymnasium.  Thirteen teens were arrested for this bit of brilliance.

According to the Channel 31 story,

the teens hung streamers and posters, wrote on the walls and floors, and knocked over chairs which were set up for graduation. The teens are also accused of drinking alcohol in the gym and setting off fire extinguishers.

Ironically, one of the students arrested was a young woman who’d just had a congratulatory story written about her in the Peoria Journal Star.  Tiffany Deakin had studied hard at Cuba High School, while taking classes at Spoon River Junior College.  She was scheduled to graduate from BOTH schools this spring.  No word on if this mistake will have repercussions at CHS.

We just got word from the i wireless Center in Moline, IL, that Van Halen has postponed the second leg of their “A Different Kind of Truth” tour.  Van Halen was scheduled to play in Moline on Friday, September 21.  Tickets were to go on sale this Saturday morning, but that, too, has been postponed.

That’s the official word from the Quad Cities venue.  Billboard Magazine reports the postponements are due to Eddie Van Halen’s health issues.  TMZ and Reuters are reporting/speculating that the tour postponement may be related to Eddie Van Halen’s health.

UltimateClassicRock.com reports that VH is cancelling tour dates after June.  Reuters says the Eddie is undergoing medical tests.  Reuters says that tour promoter, LiveNation, confirms those tests, but will not say the nature of them.

Eddie has had parts of his tongue surgically removed twice.  The virtuoso guitar player also had a hip replacement surgery and has battled alcoholism.

Here’s some good news for you if your currently working for minimum wage. Yesterday the Illinois Senate Committee approved a proposal to raise the minimum wage.

If the new bill goes through, minimum wage will go up 50 cents a year until it reaches $10.55 per hour in 2015. Currently, the minimum wage sits at $8.25 an hour.

According to cinewsnow.com, State senator Dave Koehler says the economy isn’t stable enough for a wage hike but he says that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t support one in the future.

The bill will now go to the senate floor for a debate.

I hope it gets passed.  I’ve spent a majority of my adult life working for the minimum and I gotta say its really not enough to get by.  10 bucks an hour could really improve life for alot of people.  They can at least keep it consistent with the economy.

Here’s an interesting story from yesterday. The Peoria Fire Department went fishing for a naked guy.

Authorities say a man took all his clothes off and jumped in the river downtown.  Fire Captain Tony Ardis jumped in after him and kept him above water until a rescue but was able to come. He was then taken to the hospital for evaluations.

I guess a fireman’s work is never done. Sometimes your putting out fires and other times your jumping into the Illinois river after naked guys. I’m guessing Tony’s gonna be hearing about this one from the guys at the fire house for a long time. Nothing like  summertime in Peoria!

Sometimes there is such a thing as too much horse power in a car.

A quarter of a million dollar Lamborghini Gallardo was sitting at a stop light in a Chicago suburb and its driver decided to show off a bit while making a left hand turn.

After making it half way through he turn he loses control of the car and crashes this beautiful bright yellow racing machine into not one, but two other cars!

The youtuber that caught this whole thing on camera was amazingly at the right place at the exact right time!

Watch the painful video below.  I hope the driver wasn’t some 16-year-old kid who was trying to show off daddy’s new toy to his friends. If so, God help him!

Today’s clip of my interview with Ted Nugent, who plays Peoria at the Civic Center Theater on June 12, has Ted talking about his generally good relationship over the years with his longtime vocalist Derek St. Holmes, despite a long absence.

The two met in 1974 at a concert in Lincoln Park, MI, when St. Holmes’ band “Scott” opened for The Amboy Dukes.  St. Holmes joined Ted’s band when he went solo, then left Ted’s band amicably in ’78 to pursue his own musical path.

St. Holmes returned the past couple years to tour full time with Ted.  The pair fronted the band at last summers riverfront show and will again indoors in June.  Tickets are on sale now at the box office, all Tickermaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com or by charge via phone at 800-745-3000.

May 12th was Malin’s 34th birthday. The Canadian actress of Swedish descent got into modeling and acting at the age of 5, and actually won the Ford Model Search in Canada at 17. The Great White North decided to keep her from us until she portrayed Freak Show’s wife in 2004′s ‘Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle’. Now, we can’t look at Oreo’s Double Stuff without getting awkwardly aroused.

Unfortunately, we’d have to wait a whole three years before we got to see her first starring role as Ben Stiller’s rebound wife in ‘The Heartbreak Kid’. We can’t fault Ben’s character for rushing into the holy bonds with that bombshell.

She made us question Vince Vaughn’s sexuality in 2009′s ‘Couples Retreat’ and she had our Nite Owl hooting in ‘Watchmen’.

What sets her apart from most smokeshows is her comical side, which is on full display as Dr. Valerie Flame in Adult Swim’s late night series ‘Children’s Hospital’.

Recently, she’s appeared on the covers of Maxim’s May 2012 issue and Shape’s June 2012 issue. She’s also been spotted at the Tribeca Film Festival and a host of other red carpet screenings of blockbuster movies

We’re looking forward to her roles in ‘Rock of Ages’ and ‘Stolen’, but we’re feverishly pressing fast forward to catch her playing Linda Lovelace in the porn star’s biopic set to release in 2013 (even though it might not happen).

Before men had the luxury of using internet porn to appease their animalistic urges, they apparently engraved “Hoo-Ha” images on rocks for sexual posterity. That’s right; according to a recent archeological discovery in southern France it is now believed that the earliest smut magazine may have been nothing more than a 3,000-pound block of limestone.

The National Academy of Sciences reveals that this discovery of engravings and paintings, believed to have been done by members of Aurignacian culture, was created 37,000 years ago. This makes them slightly older than the world’s earliest known cave art found in southeastern France.

While some motifs found at the site consisted of “zoomorphic” and “geometric” engravings, multiple images of the female vulva as well as many additional images of the female sex anatomy were also found.

According to Nicholas Conrad, a paleoanthropologist at the University of Tübingen who reported the find, the sex organ art found in southern France resembles a figurine found in a southwestern German cave depicting a woman with “large projecting breasts” and a pronounced vulva and labia majora visible between the woman’s legs.

“All place an emphasis on sexual attributes and lack emphasis on the legs, arms, face and head, made all the more noticeable in this case because a carefully carved, polished ring — suggesting that the figurine was once suspended as a pendant — exists in place of a head.”

He also adds that although the images found recently in France are similar in style to those found in Germany, it remains unclear whether men or women created the artwork or if it was used for ritualistic purposes.

Did President Obama get caught swearing on a hot mic in New York?

Obama recently gave the commencement speech at Barnard College in New York and was awarded the Barnard Medal of Distinction which is the highest honor offered by the school.

After the address was finished Obama forgot to grab his medal and turned around to get it, while at the same time mentioning to the crowd of people standing behind him, “I gotta get my S—!”

Now, there could be some question as to whether he really did say S— or just said “stuff” or some other word that begins with the letter “S.”  You can watch the video below and decide for yourself.

Go Bears!!

So last night I was watching the Miami Heat/Indiana game on television and this guy happened to catch my eye.

When they cut to an Indiana player inbounding the ball I happened to notice this guy in the backround.  In a sea of Miami fans with their white playoff shirts, there he was, decked out in his Chicago Bears stuff.  I got a good laugh out of it and I thought you might too so I paused my T.V and took a picture.

Classic stuff from this guy. You gotta support your team. Go Bears!!!!

Be on the lookout for scam artists trying to take advantage of people looking for lower energy bills.

The city of Peoria and Ameren are warning people of scam artists posing to offer you better energy rates. A few weeks back, Peoria voted on electrical aggregation which allowed lower rates to customers because the city can now purchase energy from the cheapest bulk supplier.

Ameren will be sending out letters about this. However, scammers are going door to door, calling and texting people posing as Ameren employees trying to get things like credit card numbers, social security and bank account information.

“Don’t sign up for anything that you just hear about over the phone or through email or door-to-door. Always, get it in writing. So that, you understand exactly what you’re being offered,” said Chris Setti, Peoria’s special projects manager.

I love chocolate, therefore, I love chocolate chip cookies and today we celebrate this one of a kind treat!

Did you know that the chocolate chip cookie was created by accident?

A woman named Ruth Wakefield invented the Toll House chocolate chip cookie. She was in charge of creating the recipes for the meals that were served at, can you guess, the Toll House Inn.  One day she was making one of her most favorite deserts, butter cookies, and found herself without one key ingredient, bakers chocolate.  But thank goodness she had something on hand that might just make a good substitute, a semi-sweet chocolate bar.  She cut the bar up into little pieces, added it to the cookie dough, and hoped for the best. What came out was an American cookie icon, the chocolate chip cookie.

Now, where did she get that chocolate bar from that heroically saved the day for Mrs. Wakefield, I’m glad you asked, it was given to her by a man named Andrew Nestle of a little business called the Nestle Chocolate Company.

So today in celebration of this great American “mistake” go ahead and bake yourself a batch of delicious chocolate chip cookies tonight and remember to thank Mrs. Wakefield for her quick thinking and scrumptious treat.

Many of us do our banking via ATM or other electronic means, but how would you feel if actual in-person tellers didn’t exist? A few banks are testing out new systems with the possible goal of making that idea a reality.

In an effort to reduce waiting time for customers and free up employees to sell profitable products like loans and mortgages, some banks are installing touch screens and self-serve kiosks that would allow people to conduct standard banking business as well as cash checks, buy money orders and get cash in unusual denominations — tasks typically reserved exclusively for tellers.

Bank of America is even trying out video teller machines with screens that would give customers access to employees located in a centralized call center who can remotely authorize transactions, review check images and dole out cash. North Carolina’s Coastal Federal Credit Union, which has already switched to such a system, has seen its costs drop by 40 percent.

Willard Ross, chief retail officer for the credit union, said product sales have nearly doubled in the branches and added, “Branch managers don’t have to worry about manning the teller operations anymore, so they can be totally focused on the members who walk in.”

The University of Illinois Coaches Caravan is in Peoria this afternoon and evening to connect with Illini Nation.

New Illinois head football coach Tim Beckman and new Illinois head men’s basketball coach John Groce, along with women’s basketball coach Matt Bollant and Director of Athletics Mike Thomas will host a  reception at the Peoria Country Club from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  The event gives fans a chance to meet-n-greet the Illini coaches.  It includes hors d’oeuvres, an autograph session and more.  The cost is $25.00.

The coaches were scheduled to tour some Peoria District 150 Schools and also visit the Children’s Hospital of Illinois earlier this afternoon.  Listen for all of your Illini football and basketball action on your home for Illinois sports and Classic Rock, 95.5, GLO!

Are you man enough for the death race? Lee Biga from Pekin is and next month he’s going to set out to prove it.

The PEAK Death Race is held every year in Pittsfield, Vermont. It so tough that you have to sign a death waiver before starting.

The race is a 24 hour event where anything can happen. Contestants have to endure trials like crawling through mud and barbed wire, running two miles through moving water and climbing hills while lugging bicycle frames and tree stumps. On top of that, they’re also forced to perform various mental tasks, such as memorizing a list of U.S. presidents or reassembling a bunch of Lego pieces in a precise configuration.

Every year event organizers change the course to make it even tougher on the contestants. Most people don’t finish. I know I sure couldn’t.
