The Seattle Mariners placed infielder J.P. Crawford on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right hand contusion and recalled infielder Ryan Bliss from Triple-A Tacoma.

The IL move is retroactive to Saturday.

Crawford was hit in the hand by a 95-mph sinker from Framber Valdez in the third inning of Seattle's loss to Detroit on Friday. Crawford was replaced in the field for the bottom of the inning and missed the rest of the series.

Crawford, 31, is batting .228 with 10 home runs and 23 RBIs through 55 games this season.

After Crawford started at shortstop in 53 of those games, rookie Colt Emerson may see more time at shortstop. The 20-year-old top prospect made his major league debut last month and was originally penciled in to start at shortstop Monday against the host Baltimore Orioles before being scratched about an hour before the scheduled start.

Emerson's removal from the lineup was due to back tightness, the Mariners said. Cole Young is now scheduled to start at shortstop Monday night, with Bliss at second.

It will be Young's first career start at shortstop after appearing in 66 games at second base this season for the Mariners. A first-round pick of Seattle in the 2022 MLB Draft, the 22-year-old is hitting .253 with four home runs and 31 RBIs in his second season in the majors.

Bliss, 26, appeared in one game for Seattle earlier this season as a pinch hitter. He owns a .210 batting average with three homers and 12 RBIs in 45 career big-league games, and he was batting .204 with one homer in 51 games this year at Triple-A.

The Atlanta Falcons officially re-signed wide receiver Drake London to a four-year contract extension Monday.

The team announcement comes nearly one week after the deal was reported by multiple outlets as being worth $141 million. A total of $100 million of the deal is reportedly guaranteed, while the pact could pay as much as $150 million with incentive clauses, according to multiple reports, though the team did not disclose financial information.

London's new deal gives him an average annual value of $35.25 million, the third-highest mark among wide receivers behind only Seattle's Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($42.15 million) and Cincinnati's Ja'Marr Chase ($40.25 million). Smith-Njigba signed his extension with the Super Bowl champion Seahawks earlier this offseason.

It is also the highest average per-year deal in Falcons history, according to ESPN.

"Drake London represents exactly what we're building here," Atlanta Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham said in a statement. "His work ethic, competitive drive, and team-first mind set is refreshing to witness. He's an ascending player who has earned the respect of everyone in this building through the way he prepares and performs."

The Falcons made London the eighth overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he had an immediate impact as a starter. He led the Falcons in receiving yards in each of his first three seasons before tight end Kyle Pitts beat him by 9 yards in 2025, with London playing five fewer games.

In 62 career games (60 starts), the 24-year-old has 309 receptions for 3,961 yards and 22 touchdowns for Atlanta. His best season was in 2024, when he played all 17 games and finished with career highs of 100 catches, 1,271 yards and nine TDs.

London will play the 2026 season on his fifth-year rookie option, worth $16.82 million. The extension then takes him through the 2030 campaign.

Atlanta enters a new era with Kevin Stefanski as head coach and franchise legend and former quarterback Matt Ryan in a newly created role as president of football. Tua Tagovailoa was brought in to compete with Michael Penix Jr. for the starting quarterback job.

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence charges on Monday, sending the case toward a likely trial set for July.

Cooper was arrested and jailed in Douglas County (Colo.) early last Friday after police responded to a call and arrested the 28-year-old at 11:16 p.m. Thursday.

Arrest records indicate Cooper and his girlfriend, also arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence with an additional charge of petty criminal mischief, were involved in a disagreement over allegations of infidelity. In signed affidavits, the parties gave much different accounts of the events that caused the argument to escalate.

Cooper posted an apology to social media on Saturday.

"I apologize to my family to my friends and my community ... And so many others," it read.

A pre-trial hearing was set for July 6 during Cooper's court appearance on Monday. A trial date of July 22 falls within a week of the likely start of Denver's training camp.

His attorney requested an expedited trial to avoid any conflict with training camp or the Broncos' preseason schedule.

Cooper has started every game in each of the past three seasons for Denver and has played in 81 games (65 starts) since the Broncos drafted him in the seventh round in 2021.

Cooper recorded eight sacks, 50 tackles and 16 quarterback hits last season. He has 31.5 sacks, 63 QB hits, 266 tackles, three fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown), two forced fumbles and one interception.

He signed a four-year, $60 million extension in November 2024.

It appears long-suffering New York Knicks fans are saving their wallets for a potential clinching game in the NBA Finals.

With the Knicks up 2-0 and the NBA Finals coming to Madison Square Garden on Monday night for the first time in 27 years, the get-in price for tickets to Game 3 has dropped to $4,711. While that's still far more expensive than this year's Super Bowl, it does represent a 49% drop over the past three days, according to ticket tracking service TicketData.

Ahead of Game 2 in San Antonio on Friday night, the get-in price for the Monday night game had soared above $9,000. The Knicks then survived a furious Spurs rally and put a stranglehold on the series by winning the first two games on the road.

Should New York win on Monday, it would set up a potential series sweep for the Knicks' first NBA title in 52 years. The get-in price for Game 4 has risen 7% to $8,600 over the past three days.

In fact, the remainder of the series after Game 3 has seen each game rise, including two potential games in San Antonio.

A plane that crashed and erupted into a fireball was on its way to pick up former St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and his family in Texas, Molina confirmed on social media.

The crash occurred Sunday at the airport in La Romana, Dominican Republic, minutes after the private, U.S.-registered Gulfstream G200 jet took off. The crew reported an issue with the plane and was attempting to return to the airport.

USA Today reported that the jet missed the runway, skidded, hit a bump and caught fire.

The pilot and co-pilot were the only people on board, and both were killed, according to Molina's Instagram story.

"My condolences to the pilots and their families," he wrote. "This plane was on its way to pick up me, my family, and friends in Texas to return to Puerto Rico. This is all so heartbreaking."

Molina now resides in Texas and was photographed Friday in the stands watching his son, Yanu, also a catcher, play in the UIL Texas 6A D1 state championship. His son plays for Lake Travis High School in Austin.

The elder Molina, 43, spent his 19-year career and won two World Series championships with the Cardinals, being named an All-Star 10 times and winning nine Gold Glove awards. He retired after the 2022 season and will be a first-time candidate on the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot for the 2028 class.
