Today’s the day that many top high school athletes are signing national letters of intent to attend college and play the sport they excel at. Four large school football players, among others, signed to play at the next level.
Illinois State’s football program is riding high after finishing as runner up at the Football Championship Subdivision level, one step down from the biggest boys. The Redbirds signed Notre Dame quarterback and linebacker DeMarco Washington, who led the Irish to their best-ever state semifinal appearance. Peoria High also reached the state semi’s and were led by lineman Lacale London, who’ll attend ISU. So, too, will defensive back / wide receiver Steve Covington of Richwoods.
And East Peoria lineman Derek Sparkman signed on with Grand Valley State, outside of Grand Rapids, MI, another successful college program. Congrats to all, and we’re looking forward to again being the premier high school football broadcast again this Fall with our Red Zone Game of the Week coverage on Peoria’s home for classic rock and football, 95.5, GLO.
