I want to believe. That’s what Fox Mulder of the X-Files and I feel about the possibility that we are not alone in the universe. It’s been 14 years since we last caught up with Dana Scully and Mulder, and I liked what I saw in the first of two back-to-back premiere nights of this 6-episode reunion tour on Fox TV.

Comedic actor Joel McHale is inserted into the show as a blowhard right wing TV personality who believes in ET’s and brings the duo, along with Walter Skinner, back to get the band together again. The X-Files was the longest-running sci-fi show in U.S. TV history, no small feat. It ran for 9 seasons, so this re-boot is considered season 10 and will air on Monday nights moving forward.

I’m a fan of the show, but wouldn’t label myself a super fan, like some I know (over-nighter Andy Savage, for instance), so I didn’t mind last night’s premiere going over some the FBI duo’s history early on. I was engaged with the show from start to finish, though some TV critics were not feelin’ it. Read critiques HERE . But judging by Twitter response, I think most of us fans were thrilled to see X-Files back in “we’re being lied to” form.

If you loved the show before, watch it again. If you missed it the first time around, don’t know if you’ll catch the fever in this short 6-show arc.
