Alright Cars fans, get ready for the New Boxed Set “The Elektra Years 1978-1987″ which will feature six studio albums in addition to some
digital remastering which has been directly overseen by Ric Ocasek himself. The set will be available on on March 11th and is being released by Rhino Entertainment.
The Cars’ very first single, “Just What I Needed.” was a Top 40 hit for the band and they went on continuing to crank out numerous radio hits we all know and love such as “Let’s Go,” “Shake It Up,” “Magic,” and “You Might Think.”
Rhino is releasing two new collections in the spring to honor The Cars’ vast musical legacy. The first is a boxed set featuring all six of the band’s Elektra studio albums. The second is a single-disc, career-spanning collection by The Cars that combines the group’s best songs along with a trio of rare and unreleased alternate versions.
And here’s something for all you vinyl lovers, on Tuesday June 7, there will be a limited edition vinyl version of the boxed set which will be available with each 180-gram LP pressed on a different color vinyl. Way cool!
The Cars have long been a staple artist on 95-5 GLO and will continue to do so for many years to come. This is a great collection of The Cars music and is a must for any Cars fan. Remember, it hits the shelves on March 11th!
