Doing the honors of singing of the late Tome Petty is Toms former bandmate, Tom Leadon, from Mudcrutch and, before that, The Epics. The song is titled “My Best Old Friend.” Petty died suddenly last month from a heart attack at age 66. Leadon is also the younger brother of original Eagles guitarist Bernie Leadon. Petty once said it was Tom’s move from Gainesville, Florida to Los Angeles that inspired Petty to do the same thing.
