The Super Nutrition Red Zone shines the high school football spotlight on the smaller schools in week 7 Friday night. Our main game is the Elmwood/Brimfield at Farmington battle for the Prairieland Blue Conference lead. Both teams are 6-0 and ranked in the top ten in Class 3A, same as last year when this game was featured on the Red Zone.
Last year, the host Trojans won the first half before the visiting Farmers plowed them under in the second half to stay perfect. Farmington has won 24 straight regular season games and will host this year’s regular season, small school “game of the year.” Former Illini and Farmington High lineman Tony Johnson and I have the call from Farmington.
Tom Meredith treks to Princeville, where the first place team in the Lincoln Trail Conference hosts traditional rival and power Stark Country. The Princes are 6-0 and have been state-ranked all season in Class 1A, while the Rebels have won a couple in a row to even their record at 3-3 and keep hopes alive of yet another playoff appearance.
And we’ll track down the scores from all the other area games throughout the night!
Join us every Friday night for the Super Nutrition Red Zone Game of the Week Friday, with the pregame starting at 6:30 pm. Super Nutrition is a local business, on Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria, that specializes in the sale of health, wellness, vitamins, and sport nutrition products.
