[UPDATE] – 4/5: The Rolling Stones have issued a statement on Mick Jagger’s surgery, which apparently took place Thursday, 4/4. “Mick Jagger has successfully undergone treatment. he is doing very well and is expected to make a full recovery.”
Jagger tweeted: “Thank you everyone for all your messages of support. I’m feeling much better now and on the mend…”
Billboard reports: “Doctors were able to access his heart valve through his femoral artery and are now monitoring him for any complications that could arise from the procedure, including excess bleeding. The minimally invasive procedure allows Jagger to avoid major surgery – doctors are able to repair the heart valve using a catheter that accesses a major artery without opening his chest.”
The Rollings Stones are in exile, but hopefully for just a few months. Rumors started to swirl last weekend, and they proved to be true. The Stones frontman, Mick Jagger, will undergo heart valve replacement surgery in New York City. Due to this, The Stones North American tour has been postponed, not cancelled, including the June 21 Soldier Field show, so hold on to your ticket if you have one. News update HERE.

Jagger is now 75, but has a reputation as being the fittest, most health-conscious member of the group. He’s known to maintain a robust exercise regimen that includes jogging, cycling, kickboxing and even ballet lessons. His heart condition was found during a regular scan, and he reported no pain or injury that might’ve caused a need for this procedure. Mick is expected to make a complete recovery, but there’s always risks with any surgery, especially on the heart.
Billboard reports that The Rolling Stones – if Jagger’s surgery goes according to the successful plan – could begin touring again in July. John Meglen of Concert West, the tour’s promoter, says, “We’re beginning to look at the rescheduling options and we’re going to try to do this as quickly as we can,” adding that a new dates announcement “could come in the next couple of weeks.”
