Week 3 of the high school football season Friday (9/13) brings us to the opening night of Mid Illini Conference schedule. Morton and Canton are the only 2-0 teams heading in to conference play. We’ll broadcast 1-1 Dunlap at 0-2 Pekin, with our pregame show beginning at 7 pm on the Super Nutrition Red Zone Game of the Week, featuring interviews with both head coaches, Brett Cazalet and Doug Nutter.
Both the Eagles and Dragons are averaging 21 points a game, while Dunlap appears to have a stingy defense this season, giving up only 31 points in the first two games. Our secondary game will also be in the Mid Illini: 1-1 Limestone at 1-1 Washington, which came from way back – down 23-0 at the half, to win by a point last week against Belleville West on a last play touchdown pass. The usual suspects, Washington and Metamora, (also 1-1) appear to be the teams to beat, but you never know which team will rise to the top of this tough, physical conference.
Former Farmington and Illinois lineman Tony Johnson, stats man Tyler Busch and I will be in “The Pill Box” at Pekin, Tom Meredith’s in Washington, checking out the new press box and home stands at Babcook Field. Jason Glick produces in the Red Zone studios while tracking scores from all the other area games, making this your one stop radio stop to get caught up on your team, your conference and your rival’s games.
If you know someone out of the area or a fan who can’t make it to Pekin Friday night, have ’em click the “Listen Live” button at this site or download the free phone app for our station. We get listeners from all over the world!
The Super Nutrition Red Zone Game of the Week is presented by Heartland Apartments, Starcrest Cleaners and Brickhouse Bar BQ, with supporting sponsors Suiting Up and Peoria Motors.
