It’s been a sad week for 1980’s Rock artists this week, Peoria Rock fans. Greg Kihn, the singer, songwriter with the Greg Kihn Band, has passed away at the age of 75 from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. Kihn and his band had two very notable songs in the early 1980’s, “The Breakup Song (They Don’t Write Em’), in 1981 which went Top 15, and the Top 2 mega-hit “Jeopardy”, which was later immortalized by Weird Al Yankovic, as “I Lost On Jeopardy.” His music was instantly catchy and left an indelible mark.
The Greg Kihn Band DID “Play Peoria” opening for Rick Springfield in 1982 at the new Peoria Civic Center. Kihn also played a role in the new venture called MTV, as his videos played in big rotation in the network’s early launch.
