The great Midwestern rock band, Kansas, should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’ve been a fan since their back-to-back splendid albums, Leftoverturne and Point of No Return in the late 70’s.
Many of you remember when Kansas rocked Robertson Fieldhouse on the Bradley campus in January of ’76, at the height of the band’s popularity. Kansas rocks on and will perform again in Peoria at the Civic Center Theater on April Fools’ night, Saturday, April 1, on its 40th anniversary tour of the Leftoverture album.
Founding members Rich Williams and Phil Ehart lead the band back to play the entire Leftoverture album in sequence in its entirety. And, Kansas will play songs from its whole catalog, including off their 2016 album, The Prelude Implicit, (which can be ordered online at their website HERE) in a show that will last about two and a half hours!
Ronnie Platt has been the lead singer for Kansas the past few years, taking over after original singer Steve Walsh retired after his second stint with the band. You can hear my interview with Ronnie HERE or by clicking on the “Podcast” section under “Shows” at the top of this page.
And if you can, watch the highly regarded documentary on the band, “Miracles Out of Nowhere.” It chronicles their rise from the heart of nowheresville to the top of the rock mountain. You’ll not be disappointed. Watch the trailer HERE.
I’ll have pairs of tickets to give away during my afternoon show (3/27-3/31). Get your tickets at the box office and through Ticketmaster. On their 40th anniversary Leftoverture tour, progressive roster masters Kansas return to play the Peoria Civic Center Theater, Saturday, April 1, from Peoria’s classic rock concert station, 95.5, GLO.
