There’s been a snag in the current Las Vegas residency of Aerosmith. Drummer Joey Kramer missed last night’s (4/23) show at the MGM, and rumors are swirling that there’s trouble in the Aerosmith camp, which wouldn’t be the first time!
Kramer and lead singer Steven Tyler allegedly argued during a Vegas show last week on April 16, a week earlier. With Kramer a no show at their 8th Sin City show last night, his drum technician, John Douglas, sat in and played drums during the entire show.
No one in the band would comment as to why Kramer was missing. Previously, when Kramer or another member of the band would miss a gig due to a health reason, that would be disclosed. Kramer, for instance, collapsed on stage during a 2014 tour, and it was no secret. Kramer ended up getting heart surgery done at that time. Tyler is the only band member to never miss a show, probably because when he has issues, the tour shuts down.
Joe Perry has said that, more or less, Aerosmith’s Vegas residency is to fill time until they can officially charge into their 50th anniversary tour next year. Kramer and Tyler have known each other seemingly forever, having grown up together in Yonkers, New York. Below is a video of their Vegas opening night. I’ll keep you posted on the melodrama.
