Your classic rock home for the past 25 years, 95.5, GLO and Live Nation are glad to have Styx return to Peoria to play the Civic Center Theater on Thursday, June 27! Not many bands, let alone one from our home state, have produced as many hits as Styx, and few had a run like Styx did, at one point, churning out four straight million-selling albums.
Styx rolls into town for a summer show that will bring rockin’ memories for sure. Tommy Shaw, “JY,” James Young and Chuck Panozzo lead the veteran rockers, who should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, IMO. Styx was my first rock concert, back in March of 1978 at Cobo Arena in Detroit, when the band was white-hot and touring for the Grand Illiusion album. They were great then and still are.
More recently, I saw them in 2011 in Bloomington and enjoyed them like I always have. They (and REO Speedwagon) also played a tornado relief benefit show in 2013 there that sold out. Bassist Ricky Phillips and keyboardist Lawrence Gowan are pro’s and fill out the Styx sound nicely, as they have for yours, since the departure of Dennis DeYoung over creative direction.
This week (M, 6/3 – F, 6/7), listen to Tim’s noon hour and my 5 O’Clock Free Ride for your chance to win a pair of tickets to see Styx in Peoria. Get tickets at the box office and through the Live Nation site HERE. Tickets provided by Live Nation. Styx is coming back to play Peoria, June 27, with Peoria’s classic rock concert connection, 95.5, GLO.
