Sad news to start our Labor Day Weekend, Peoria music fans. Jimmy Buffett, the beach inspired musician and cultural icon has passed away at the age of 76. Buffett died peacefully with his family on Friday, September 1st. Buffett celebrated the beach, margaritas, flip flops, the ocean, and cheeseburgers in paradise in his 50 year career. His fans had their own name, ‘Parrotheads,’ His concerts were cultural events in of themselves. He was also known as a very successful businessman as he launched the ‘Margaritaville’ Restaurants across the Country. His family released the following statement, “Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st, surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. He lived his life a song till the very last breath and he will be missed beyond measure by so many.” Sad day indeed.
