David Johansen Of New York Dolls Fame, Dead At 75

Sad news in the world of Rock N’ Roll and entertainment, as singer and last surviving member of the legendary Punk and Glam Rockers, David Johansen, has died at the age of 75. Johansen had been battling stage 4 cancer for most of the last decade. Johansen passed on Friday with his wife and step daughter present. Aside from his career in the New York Dolls, Johansen jolted into stardom in the 1980’s as the outlandish and enigmatic lounge singer character Buster Poindexter. He had modest hit with the song, “Hot, Hot, Hot.” He was a fixture on TV, and was in movies as well. During his time as lead singer of the New York Dolls, the band was a massive influence in the Glam and Punk Rock world, inspiring legions of artists, like Blondie, The Sex Pistols, Joan Jett and others. Sad day, Peoria Rock fans.
