Jon Batiste will be honored with the inaugural Ray Charles “Architect of Sound” Award at the Grammy Hall of Fame Gala on May 16 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. The award recognizes artists who embody Charles’ pioneering impact on music, and it will be presented annually at the event jointly organized by the Grammy Museum and the Recording Academy. Taylor Swift's beloved Folklore collaboration with Bon Iver, "Exile," was not a regular feature on The Eras Tour setlist. During the few times she surprised audiences by performing the song live, fans passionately filled in for Justin Vernon's vocals. During an appearance on The Tonight Show on Wednesday (April 2), Vernon said that even though they never got the chance to sing it together on Swift’s tour, Vernon was amazed at the crowd's rendition, saying it was an “out of body” experience. “I saw those clips and I’m like, ‘Gosh, they sound better than one of me can sound,’” Vernon admitted. “It was pretty powerful to just see that and to hear how that sounded. On Thursday (April 3), Kesha and Scissor Scissors announced details of their 2025 Ti-s Out Tour. The jaunt will promote the release of Kesha’s first independently released album, Period (.), which is due out July 4, and it will also mark the live comeback for Scissor Sisters, who haven’t toured North America in over a decade. The 25-date Ti-s Out Tour will hit arenas and amphitheaters throughout North America this summer, kicking off in West Valley City, Utah on July 1, while visiting major cities including Los Angeles, Dallas, Toronto, New York, and Philadelphia, before finishing in Tampa on August 10. The shows will also feature special guest opening acts Slayyyter and Rose Gray on select dates. Susanna Hoffs has just recorded a new version of the Bangles’ ballad, "Eternal Flame." One of the multiple sexual assault lawsuits against Sean “Diddy” Combs was dismissed on Monday (March 31), as the Jane Doe's claims of an assault at a 1995 party in New York City were not pursued further by the woman. Despite her attorney's efforts to proceed anonymously, the judge denied this request due to a lack of evidence of harm from disclosing her identity. The woman had until March 20 to file an amended complaint with her real name, but failed to do so. “As a result, all pending motions were terminated, and the case has been formally closed,” read the order. Combs' legal team applauded the dismissal, stating that the over 50 sexual misconduct lawsuits filed against the disgraced music mogul have been “pushed forward by attorneys more focused on media headlines than legal merit.” Combs is currently facing charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Variety is reporting that Kendrick Lamar’s movie with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone has been delayed to March 20, 2026 from its original July 4, 2025 release date. The untitled comedy will feature Vernon Chatman as the primary writer, with PgLang’s Dave Free set to produce the film alongside Lamar. Little information is available about the cast, but the plot follows an African-American intern discovering his white girlfriend’s ancestors were slave owners of his relatives. Despite the project’s delay, Lamar is still having a big year in 2025, winning Grammys for Song of the Year and Record of the Year, headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, and scoring a Billboard No. 1 album with GNX that generated multiple chart-topping hits on the Hot 100. On Monday (March 31), Miley Cyrus released the music video for the title track of her new concept album, Something Beautiful. Cyrus co-wrote the single with Ryan Beatty and her boyfriend, Maxx Morando, and she also directed the video with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walterwhich, which is part of a planned full-length film. Hip-hop legends Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are teaming up once again to open the Still G.I.N. Lounge in Downtown Nashville on April 4. The cocktail lounge will bring a hip-hop twist to the country music-focused area, with a drink menu showcasing Snoop and Dre’s signature Still G.I.N. and Gin & Juice cocktails. The new venue is located in the same four-story building that hosts Nashville Live!, and promises to bring a “smooth sophistication of a top-tier cocktail lounge with the energy and cultural influence of the legendary duo.” featuring a blend of rap, R&B, and funk performances. In addition to the cocktail lounge, the club will also host a rotation of DJs and live performances highlighting rap, R&B, and funk musicians, bringing a unique West Coast meets Southern soul experience to Nashville.
